001 - Biography

Jessica St James was born in Savannah, Georgia. Her family came from modest beginnings but made their way up through hard work, many sacrifices, and the fact that they had only one child to feed and clothe and buy everything her little heart desired. Though she had wanted a big family, Mrs. St James had some difficulties with her first and only pregnancy that prevented her from carrying another child. Thus, she lavished all of her affection on her daughter, Jessica, a happy little baby who giggled at every turn and played nice with the other kids. She liked to dress up and play house and pretend she was a character in a shakespeare play, Juliet or ophelia...of course she didn't realize the tragic end these two damsels met since her father, when he read the plays to her, tended to skip that part.

The family got on happily enough with just enough space in their little house for the three of them and a small dog named spotty who was not actually spotty at all. Mr. St James' job with the military just kept getting better and after a few years of Jessica being in school Mrs. St James had made her way to managing a large but independant hotel in the city. They were doing astonishingly well. Things always change of course, and Jessica's father was transfered to a naval base in Key West, florida. He couldn't have been happier because it was his home town but the other members of the family were a little less enthused.

Savannah was her mother's home town and for Jessica it was hell to leave it. She was just starting to grow up, just starting to find her place in her small world and as much as she loved her dad and knew that his job was more important than her social life, she just couldn't get over it. The last two weeks in Georgia were hell, every other day saying goodbye to another friend, baking another batch of fudge brownies to make somebody feel better that they were losing one person when she knew that after a couple of weeks they wouldn't even notice she'd ever been there. What about her? Who was baking brownies for her? She was, and she gained 7 pounds in those two weeks eating half of her farewell gifts.

Packing her room took the longest of everything else she did. she was an only child and therefore had just about everything she ever wanted which obviously takes a lot of boxes to move to florida. She didn't want to go to florida. there were hurricanes and islands and horatio cane there and she didn't think she particularly liked any of those things. Ok, so Key West was not Miami and there weren't likely to be grizzly murders every 12 seconds but she still didn't want to leave her home and she was determined to hate the entire ordeal.

She didn't hate it at all. The house was amazing. Their old place had been the same house they'd always lived in since Jessica was born and honestly it needed a bit of work, her parents had just never had the time to do it. The new house? It was a NEW house and she had a big bedroom on the top floor with her own bathroom and a walk-in closet. She painted it teal and the bathroom lime green and set up all of her stuff, settling in quite nicely thank you very much. And from there it was education. The seventh grade was beginning in a few weeks and she couldn't wait to get started. She did a bit of shopping, not much as she had a lot of clothes and knew that no matter where she was, she would make them work, and the first day was on her like a flash.

She dressed up nice and glossed her lips and walked down the street to her new school. Adventure was good right? That very first day she answered three questions right, opened her locker without any problems and met her very first friend. From there? History. She joined the soccer team and became a cheerleader, made a million friends and made her way up the social and academic ranks. By the time she reached high school it was like she had been in Key West forever and she'd known these other kids since birth. There wasn't much getting in the way of her happiness.

High school at Tegesta, for Jessica anyway, is an adventure in itself. Between her classes and clubs, sports and social activities, as well as trying to keep up with her family who is almost never at home anymore and her recently adopted brother Michael from Uganda (he's 9 and speaks better english than she thought he would), she almost doesn't have enough time to breath. She takes it all in stride though, practicing yoga a meditation as well as eating a ridiculous amount of junk food to keep her sane.

Academics: Jessie does her best to keep her grades up but doesn't stress herself out about it. She figures there's no harm in being in the middle of the pack. She studies a lot, but that's mostly for the social aspect, and nearly always aces tests because if she doesn't then who's going to want to join her study groups? She maintains a decent average though, nothing to complain about though she may find it difficult when it comes time to apply to universities. She has ivy league ambitions and though her extracurriculars and social status may make her a shoe in, taking AP and honors classes isn't everything. Her grades are certainly not what those type of schools are looking for and Jessie is not used to rejection.

Personality: Jessie is smiley and friendly and always nice, she's big on first impressions. She would never be mean to anyone just for the sake of being mean but she does have a tendency to listen to rumors and gossip, which she loves, and be a little naive about what's true and what isn't. She trusts her best friends implicitly and therefore whatever comes from then is the cold hard truth and no one will convince her otherwise.

Once you've wronged her, it can be difficult to get back in Jessie's good books, though not impossible. She can hold a grudge but she believes that people can change and that everyone has an inner nice person just waiting for an excuse to come out. Keep on being evil? And you will find that Jessie can make your life a living hell.
